AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) — The animals at the Amory Humane Society are riding in style thanks to a generous grant from the Stanton Foundation.

The grant was used to buy a brand new Ford sprinter van that will be used for transport.

The Amory Humane Society saved almost 500 animals last year by moving them to other less crowded facilities.

Volunteers say it’s something they’ve needed for more than a decade.

“There was a very big need because we had more and more animals coming in,” said Amory Humane Society Executive Director Misty Daniels. “Being able to get them out was harder with a smaller van, and we found a grant that we could apply for for in order to get a bigger van.”

The shelter is already using its new van and is already helping animals on their way to a forever home.
